Marty McFly and Doc Brown are up to something again—though only time will tell exactly what the two have in the works.
The popular Back to the Future characters played by Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd were top of mind on Wed., May 1 for fans who follow the actors on social media, due to a teasy announcement that Fox and Lloyd shared together.
The announcement that the two posted on their Instagram Stories didn’t reveal much, but it did suggest that the 1985 film, which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year, is somehow related.
In a photo that Fox and Lloyd posed for together, the actors stood side by side with their knees slightly bent as they held their left arms outstretched, their wrists in front of them as if holding up watches for them to study. Lloyd wore a surprised expression on his face as he glanced at his watch-less wrist, his right hand clamped onto Fox’s shoulder.
Both Fox, 62, and Lloyd, 85, wore matching Back to the Future T-shirts with jeans and white sneakers. Fox’s shoes were Nikes, the same brand that his character wore in the film.
“Something is coming…” the actors’ announcement teased. It then included a URL urging curious fans to “click here to sign up to be notified.”
The link directed fans to a website that featured the same photo of Fox and Lloyd. “Want to go back?” the website asked. Those who provided their phone number or email address then received a preliminary message that read, “Since when can weathermen predict the weather, let alone the future? Stay tuned….”
Further details about what Fox and Lloyd were planning were not immediately provided.
The teased announcement was shared just a couple of weeks after The Houston Chronicle reported that the actors are expected to be part of this year’s Comicpalooza, an annual pop culture convention that is taking place this year over the Memorial Day weekend in Houston, Texas.
Fox, Lloyd and their fellow Back to the Future cast member, James Tolkan, will be in attendance for “The Great Scott! Experience 1985” on Sun., May 26, according to the convention’s website.
