Tips for Valentine’s Day. For Men, from a woman
Sure, a blushing bouquet of roses, tulips or peonies presented on Valentine’s Day is sure to make your significant other smile – as will hundreds of other women across the U.S.
This year, try a less generic approach and surprise your sweetheart with something different. A little goes a long way, and thoughtful simplicity warms our hearts just as much as a trip to sun-drenched Caribbean beaches would.
1. Rosa Regale, served in monogrammed wine glasses and paired with chocolate-covered strawberries
The first time I tasted this sparkling red wine, I had to add it to my shortlist. It is pleasantly sweet and doesn’t overpower the senses, while the romantic red hue provides a festive touch. For a special touch, pull out those personalized wine glasses from your wedding or have a set monogrammed. Rosa Regale also pairs wonderfully with fruit and chocolate, so why not try both and serve with chocolate-dipped strawberries? Purchase a basic fondue set at any retail store and make your own!

2. Spend a day antique shopping
Sacrifice a day of golf, fishing or whatever your favorite hobby is and suggest a day of antique shopping. Don’t wait for her to ask, volunteer! We already know you would much rather be doing the aforementioned activities, so offering to accompany us while we look at “a bunch of old stuff” only lets us know you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone. Downtown Woodstock has an array of antique stores to choose from and lunch options to refuel.
3. Get a couples’ massage
A trip to the spa may sound like a page from the Girls’ Day Out manual, but a couples’ massage is a great way to spend uninterrupted time together, relaxing in silence or in light conversation. Work out kinks, physical or otherwise, in a tranquil environment free from deadlines, children and traffic.
